Apple Integrates AI-Packed Writing Tools To iWork Apps — Check All Updates To Keynote, Pages, Numbers

Apple had on Monday released new Apple Intelligence features as part of iOS 18.4, along with iPadOS and macOS Sequoia updates. Now, to accommodate these new AI features, Apple has updated apps in iWork, its office suite of applications for iOS, macOS, and iPadOS.

Productivity apps such as Pages, Numbers, and Keynote have now been updated for Macs, iPads, and iPhones, and now include Writing Tools, an Apple Intelligence feature. According to Apple’s release notes, support for Writing Tools has now been extended to these three applications on all of Apple’s devices. 

This implies that users can now use Writing Tools to edit/rewrite text on a system that has the most recent software update and Apple Intelligence installed. Additionally, changes to all three apps allow spreadsheets, presentations, and documents to be exported to different formats via Shortcuts.

The presentation app allows users to begin with an Apple-designed theme and add text, images, charts, tables, and shapes, with an Apple Pencil on iPad or finger. It also offers cinematic animations and transitions and live video adding option.

Keynote updates (requiring iOS or iPadOS 18.4) include:

• Make text edits using Writing Tools directly in your presentation (requires Apple Intelligence).

• Export presentations into other formats using Shortcuts.

• Improved copy and paste with Freeform.

Pages helps create reports, digital books, resumes, posters, and more, with addition of images, movies, audio, tables, charts, and shapes. Users can draw and annotate using Apple Pencil on supported devices or with a finger. 

Updates to Pages include:

• Screen View on iPad displays text, images, and other elements in a continuous flow optimised to fit user screen.

• Text edits using Writing Tools directly in a document (requires Apple Intelligence and iOS or iPadOS 18.4).

• Add additional pages into a word-processing document easily.

Numbers for Mac helps create spreadsheets using Apple-designed templates and allows addition of tables, charts, text, and images. Interactive column, bar, scatter, and bubble charts enable animation of data. 

Updates include:

• Use over 30 new functions, including LET, LAMBDA, FILTER, SORT, and UNIQUE.

• See results from a single formula across multiple cells using spilling arrays.

• Make text edits using Writing Tools (requires Apple Intelligence and macOS 15.4).

• Export spreadsheets into other formats using Shortcuts (requires macOS 15.4).

• Improved copy and paste with Freeform (requires macOS 15.4).

• Improved compatibility when importing or exporting Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
