Day 19 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 saw Super Eights, Group 2 clash between co-hosts Sri Lanka and New Zealand in Colombo on Feb. 25. The Lankans started the game well as New Zealand were struggling at 84/6. However, an 84-run partnership off just 51 balls between skipper Mitchell Santner and Cole McConchie helped the Blackcaps recover and post a competitive total of 168/7 on the board.
Sri Lanka crumbled in the run-chase as they were restricted to only 107/8 in 20 overs. All-rounder Rachin Ravindra made the most of a spinning pitch as he bowled a brilliant spell of 4/27.
The victory helped New Zealand take a decisive step toward the semifinals. England have already qualified for the semis, having defeated Sri Lanka and Pakistan. With back-to-back defeats against England and New Zealand in Super Eights, it is the end of the road for Sri Lanka in this World Cup.
