The ICC World Cup 2023 in India has crossed its halfway mark with teams playing some spectacular cricket. While home team India is yet to be defeated in the tournament, South Africa and New Zealand have played brilliantly. All these three teams will most likely qualify for the semi-finals.
Australia, who will face New Zealand on Saturday have bounced back by winning their last three matches. They lost to hosts India and South Africa in their first two matches. They will compete with Sri Lanka for the fourth spot in the semis as England and Pakistan have almost been knocked out of the tournament.
The tournament has also witnessed some spectacular individual performances. Australia's Glenn Maxwell broke the record for the fastest century in World Cup history. He smashed a 40-ball ton against Netherlands at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on October 25.
Mitchell Santner picked up two wickets against Australia on Saturday and became the highest wicket taker in the tournament so far. David Warner jumped to second position in the list of most run scorers in the World Cup 2023 with his innings of 81 runs against New Zealand in Dharamshala. He now has 413 runs in six innings at an average of 68.83.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma's century against Afghanistan was his seventh in World Cup cricket, the most for any cricketer. South Africa's Quinton de Kock has the highest individual score (174) of the tournament so far and is also the leading run-scorer.
Earlier in the tournament, South Africa created history as they blasted the highest team score in a Men's ODI World Cup match. They scored 428/5 against Sri Lanka at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
