The first solar eclipse of the year will be witnessed on March 29, Saturday. The celestial event occurs when the Moon is closer to Earth and passes directly between the home planet and the Sun. The event blocks the sunlight and casts a shadow on Earth's surface.

Several parts of the world will get to experience the eclipse, including the Northern Hemisphere of Earth. The regions in Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, the Atlantic Ocean, Arctic Ocean in all likelihood will get a chance to witness this magical phenomenon.

“Viewers will see a partial solar eclipse in sections of North America, Europe, Africa, northern Asia, small parts of South America, throughout Greenland and Iceland, as well as much of the Atlantic and Arctic oceans,” NASA said in a press release.

NASA added that, this time, the Moon's shadow won't fully cover the Earth. It will be a partial solar eclipse, covering only a portion of the Sun. This also means the appearance of “solar horns”, where the cusps of the eclipsed Sun appear as two points during sunrise.

Solar Horns also known as Devil's Horns is a phenomenon where the cusps of eclipsed crescent-shaped parts of the sun appear as two distinct points that remain visible during a partial eclipse

It added that the second solar eclipse will take place on September 21.

The US space agency also warned people against watching the eclipse without proper safety measures as it can result in damage to vision.

This eclipse will be a special one for the US, where it will already be in progress during the sunrise. Meanwhile, western Europe and northwestern Africa will see the eclipse in the mid-to-late morning. For northern Asia, it will be visible in the afternoon or early evening, according to NASA.
