Systematix Research Report
In the latest research titled 400 Million Dreams!, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) revealed that India's domestic migration in 2023 declined by 53.7 million to 402.1 million or -11.8% from the 2011 levels (Census 2011).
The study incorporates three high-frequency datasets: Railway passenger volumes, mobile telephone roaming, and banking data. The findings reflect an unprecedented reversal from the trends in the previous several decades that characterised rising urbanisation, pulling labor from unproductive activities in rural areas to higher-paying jobs in urban areas.
