(Bloomberg) -- Turkey's Finance Minister Berat Albayrak claimed that an “attack” against the country's economy was planned in the capital of a foreign country in August, according to Haberturk newspaper.
“Those who were plotting financial speculations on August 10 hit a wall,” Albayrak said in a speech at the parliament's planning and budget committee on Tuesday, according to the newspaper. “The imagined operation was repelled with the measures we have taken.”

Albayrak didn't identify the country in which the alleged attack was planned. The lira has recouped about 30 percent of its value against the dollar from a record low in August, buoyed by central-bank tightening and signs that Turkey is patching up relations with the U.S.
Albayrak also said he expected prices to normalize in October, according to Haberturk. The statistics agency is set to release October inflation data on Nov. 5.
