Trudeau, Top Aide Face Grilling Over Charity Scandal Thursday

Justin Trudeau will face lawmakers this week investigating an ethical lapse that's blemished the Canadian leader's brand.

The prime minister is scheduled to testify to a parliamentary committee Thursday afternoon in Ottawa, along with his chief of staff Katie Telford.

Trudeau's approval ratings have taken a hit over his role in awarding a contract to administer a C$900 million student ($674 million) student aid program to a charity with close ties to his family.

WE Charity's co-founders Craig and Marc Kielburger will have their say before the same panel on Tuesday. Last week, Finance Minister Bill Morneau acknowledged that he had accepted more than C$41,000 in travel expenses from the group.
