Michael Cohen's Date to Report to Prison Delayed by Two Months

(Bloomberg) -- The start date for Michael Cohen's three-year prison stay has been delayed for two months, after President Donald Trump's former personal attorney asked for more time to recuperate from surgery.

Cohen's lawyers requested the delay in a letter to a judge Wednesday, citing a "serious surgical procedure" that requires extensive physical therapy. The surgery is presumably for the same shoulder ailment that Cohen cited in delaying his appearance before the Senate intelligence committee earlier this month. Cohen is expected to testify before three congressional committees next week.

U.S. District Judge William H. Pauley granted the request without comment, deferring the prison report date to May 6 from March 6. The request wasn't opposed by prosecutors with the Manhattan U.S. Attorney's office.
