(Bloomberg) -- Two U.S. House of Representatives committees said they're in "good-faith negotiations" to allow President Donald Trump to see copies of subpoenas directing Deutsche Bank AG and Capital One Financial Corp. to turn over his bank records, as well as those of his three oldest children and some Trump businesses.
The Committee on Financial Services and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence asked a judge in New York for an additional 24 hours to respond to the Trumps' request. The committees told U.S. District Judge Edgardo Ramos that the Trumps consent to the extension, making it likely that it will be granted.
Deutsche Bank and Capital One both said in court filings Tuesday that they take no position on the request.
The Trumps sued to block the banks from turning over the records demanded by the Democrat-controlled House. They claim the subpoenas are too broad and an improper attempt to dig up embarrassing material about the Trumps for political purposes.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 9.
