A district court today sent Pune-based stud farm owner Hasan Ali Khan to prison till January 17 in a two-year-old forged passport case.
Mr Khan was produced in the court of chief judicial magistrate Ramakant Yadav who sent him to prison till January 17 in the forged passport case registered at the Kotwali police station.
Mr Khan, arrested in a case of tax evasion and lodged in Mumbai's Arthur jail, was produced before the chief judicial magistrate.
The court had issued a production warrant against him in an FIR lodged here in 2011.
The matter relates to issue of a passport from Patna in December 2010 on the basis of alleged wrong information furnished in the application. Mr Khan had applied for a passport in 2007.
After detecting irregularities, the Patna passport office had registered an FIR at the Kotwali police station in 2011.
Mr Khan had hit the headlines recently in connection with a tax evasion case. He was alleged to have siphoned off a huge sum of money abroad without paying tax.
