Mumbra Train Accident: Four Dead After Falling Off Local Train In Thane, Near Mumbai
All the injured have been rushed to the hospital. The incident occurred at the Mumbra station in a train heading towards CSMT.

Four people have lost their lives after falling from a fast local train in Mumbai. Thane District Administration told NDTV that around 13 people fell off from a local train. Out of the 13 individuals, four deaths have been confirmed, two have been reported to be critically injured and have been shifted to a private hospital called Jupiter Hospital, and seven are out of danger and under treatment at Kalwa Hospital.
It is likely that the fall was caused by overcrowding. The victims of the incident are reported to have been travelling on the footboard of the train. All the injured have been rushed to the hospital. The incident happened at the Mumbra station in a train heading towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus.
After the Mumbai local train tragedy, Maharashtra CM posted on X, "The incident of some people falling from a local train between Diva and Mumbra stations, resulting in the death of a few individuals, is extremely unfortunate. I offer my heartfelt condolences to them. We share in the grief of their families.
The injured have been promptly admitted to Shivaji Hospital and Thane Civil Hospital, where treatment is underway. The local administration is coordinating efforts. I pray to God for the speedy recovery of the injured.
An investigation has been initiated by the railway department to determine the exact cause of this incident."

"Some passengers travelling towards CSMT fell from the train at Thane's Mumbra railway station. The reason for the accident is believed to be excessive crowding on the train. The railway administration and police have reached the spot. The injured are being taken immediately to the nearest hospital. Investigation into the accident has begun. Local services have also been affected by the incident," stated Central Railways.

The passengers were believed to be hanging on the doors while travelling. The railway administration was alerted about the incident early in the morning, soon after it took place, and currently, both the police and railway authorities are present on site, investigating the cause of the accident.
Although it lies on the outskirts of Mumbai, Mumbra station is considered to be one of the busiest and most overcrowded stations.
Automatic Doors Soon?
The fallout of the tragedy might see automatic doors being introduced to all Mumbai suburban trains. According to a report by NDTV, the railway authorities have decided that "all rakes under manufacturing for Mumbai Suburban will have automatic door closer facilities."
Additionally, as per CPRO of Central Railway Line Swanip Dhanraj Nila, all rakes in service will be taken into consideration for retrofitment to accommodate automatic doors.
