This year, the festival of Holi falls on a Friday, so it will be an extended weekend, offering a long holiday break in many states. In view of the celebrations of the Hindu festival of colours, government offices, public institutions, banks, stock markets, and educational institutions, among others, will remain closed from Mar. 13 to Mar. 16 in various states.

According to the holiday calendar of the Reserve Bank of India, holidays will begin this week from Mar. 13 onward in view of Holika Dahan and Attukal Pongala.

Here's A Date-Wise Breakdown Of Holi 2025 Bank Holidays:

March 13

On March 13, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, and Kerala will observe a holiday in celebration of Holika Dahan and Attukal Pongala. Therefore, all public and private sector banks will remain closed in these states.

March 14

On March 14, except for Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Manipur, Odisha, Kerala, and Nagaland, banks will remain closed in all other states and union territories on account of a public holiday for the Holi festival.

March 15

Many states will also observe Holi on March 15, as per the regional calendar. These states include Tripura, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Manipur.

Banks will also remain closed across India on Mar. 16 on account of Sunday.

In addition to these holidays, banks will also have holidays on Mar. 22, 27, 28 and 31 due to various regional festivals. While banks will be closed on Mar. 22 in Patna, on Mar. 27 and 28, banks will remain closed in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

On Mar. 31, it will be a bank holiday in most states and Union Territories, except Mizoram and Himachal Pradesh, on account of Eid  (Eid-Ul-Fitr). However, the RBI has cancelled the holiday for all agency banks, which deal in government transactions.

However, it is important to note that the customers can continue using banking facilities such as UPI, net banking, ATM withdrawals and online transactions even on bank holidays. But, if you have a visit to a bank branch pending, you must plan your schedule as per the bank holiday list for March.

Banks generally follow the RBI holiday calendar, but closures may vary depending on regional festivities and local observances. Customers are advised to take note of these dates and check with their specific banks to avoid any inconvenience.
