Bank Holidays 2025: Are Banks Open Or Closed On Feb. 19 For Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti?
The RBI has mentioned that banks across Maharashtra will remain closed on Wednesday on the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti.

Banks in many parts of India will remain closed on Feb. 19, Wednesday, on account of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti. The birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is a highly revered occasion in Maharashtra, and the state celebrates it annually with a public holiday on this day.
According to the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) holiday calendar for 2025, Feb. 19 will be a public holiday in Maharashtra. This means that people who want to do important banking activities on Feb. 19 will have to reschedule their visit to the branch. However, internet banking, UPI and other related activities will continue to function as usual.
Bank operations in other Indian states will remain unaffected by this closure.
Bank Holidays On Feb. 20
Following the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti holiday, banks will remain closed on Feb. 20 in Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh to celebrate the anniversary of their statehood.
Arunachal Pradesh became a state on February 20, 1987, after being moved from the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA) through the 53rd Amendment of the Indian Constitution. Similarly, Mizoram, which was earlier a Union Territory, was granted full statehood on February 20, 1997, also through the 53rd Amendment.

Mahashivratri 2025 Bank Holiday
A public holiday will be observed in most states on February 26 for Mahashivratri, an annual Hindu festival dedicated to the deity Shiva. According to the RBI’s holiday calendar, all states except Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and West Bengal will observe a holiday on this day, meaning banks will also remain closed in these states.
