Foreign portfolio investors stayed net sellers of Indian equities for the 13th straight session on Tuesday. They were also sellers of index options and futures and in stock options and futures.

FIIs In Cash Market

Foreign portfolio investors stayed net sellers of Indian equities for the 13th straight session on Monday and sold stocks worth Rs 5,920.28 crore.

Domestic institutional investors have been buyers for 24 consecutive sessions and bought stocks worth Rs 3,500.32 crore, according to provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.

So far in January, the FPIs have sold stakes worth Rs 51,748 crore, according to the National Securities Depository Ltd.

The FPIs have offloaded stocks worth Rs 3,728.28 crore in the stock exchanges on Jan. 20, according to the NSDL data collected by NDTV Profit.

FIIs In Futures And Options

Ahead of the Jan. 25 expiry, the value of outstanding positions — also called open interest in the derivatives segment — has increased for the FIIs in the Nifty futures. The FIIs' long-to-short ratio in index futures remains at 17%:83%.

The FIIs sold index futures worth Rs 2,428.17 crore and index options worth Rs 2,937 crore. They also sold stock futures and options worth Rs 5,457.73 crore and Rs 1,419.51 crore, respectively.

FII Contract Value

The value of the total Nifty 50 futures open interest in the market increased by Rs 594.11 crore at the end of January expiry from Rs 33,073.25 crore a day earlier to Rs 33,667.36 crore.

F&O Cues

The Nifty January futures were down by 1.26% to 23,105.10 at a premium of 80.45 points, with the open interest up by 3.10%.

The open interest distribution for the Nifty 50 Jan. 23 expiry series indicated most activity at 24,000 call strikes, with the 22,000 put strikes having maximum open interest.

Long-Short Ratio

The total long-short ratio for foreign investors fell to 1.18 from 1.22 in the previous session.
