The S&P BSE Sensex closed up 100 points, or 0.15%, at 65,880.52, while the NSE Nifty 50 was 36 points, or 0.18%, lower at 19,611.05.

The broader market indices pare early gains to trade marginally lower; the S&P BSE MidCap Index was down 0.05%, whereas S&P BSE SmallCap Index was also 0.07% lower.

Fifteen the 20 sectors compiled by BSE declined, while five advanced. S&P BSE Metal, S&P BSE Realty fell the most.

The market breadth was skewed in the favour of the buyers. About 1,812 stocks rose, 1,666 declined, while 166 remained unchanged on the BSE.

The broader market indices outperformed larger peers; the S&P BSE MidCap Index was up 0.05%, whereas S&P BSE SmallCap Index was also 0.46% higher.

Eighteen the 20 sectors compiled by BSE advanced, while two declined. S&P BSE Energy, S&P BSE Oil & Gas rose the most.

The market breadth was skewed in the favour of the buyers. About 1,744 stocks rose, 582 declined, while 113 remained unchanged on the BSE.
