- US Core PCE inflation and crude oil inventory data will be closely watched on August 26
It's busy on the data front in both global and Indian markets this week with bellwether Nvidia Corp.'s earnings, US core PCE data, oil inventories, Warsh's Jackson Hole speech, and Indian producer price index (PPI) on the horizon.
Separately, heavy activity on the primary markets will also be detected with six IPOs scheduled during the week.
Key US Economic Data
The week will begin with the US New Home Sales data and Conference Board consumer confidence reading on August 25. The data will provide fresh cues on the health of the US housing market and consumer sentiment.
On August 26, markets will track a packed slate of economic indicators, including US Core PCE inflation data for July, GDP figures, Durable Goods Orders and weekly crude oil inventories.
The Core PCE reading will be particularly important as it is the Federal Reserve's preferred measure of underlying inflation. Investors will assess the data for clues on the outlook for US interest rates.
Nvidia's Q2 Earnings
Nvidia's quarterly earnings will be one of the biggest corporate events of the week on August 26.
Investors will focus on the company's revenue growth, demand for AI chips, data centre business and its outlook for the coming quarters.
The results could also influence sentiment across global technology and semiconductor stocks given Nvidia's importance to the artificial intelligence trade.

US Crude Inventories In Focus
US crude oil inventory data will also be released on August 26.
The data will be closely watched after US crude inventories increased in each of the previous two weeks. A further rise could add pressure to crude oil prices, while an unexpected drawdown could support prices.
Movements in crude will remain important for Indian markets given the country's dependence on imported oil and the implications for inflation, the rupee and corporate margins.
US Jobless Claims
Investors will track weekly US initial jobless claims on August 27 for further signs of cooling in the labour market.
The reading will be assessed alongside other recent US economic indicators as markets continue to gauge the strength of the economy and the potential path of Federal Reserve policy.
Jackson Hole Symposium On August 28
Global markets will turn their attention to the Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium beginning August 28.
Investors will closely watch comments from Federal Reserve officials for signals on the US central bank's interest rate outlook. Any shift in the Fed's assessment of inflation, growth or employment could influence global equities, bond yields, the US dollar and emerging markets.
The symposium will end on Aug 29, 2026.
India IIP Data Due On August 28
Back home, investors will await India's Industrial Production (IIP) data on August 28. The data will provide a fresh reading on the pace of industrial activity and will be monitored for signs of strength or weakness in manufacturing and the broader economy.
Six IPOs, Lots Of Fundraising
The Indian primary market will remain active, with six IPOs scheduled during the week of August 24-30.
