Bajaj Finance Ltd., Tata Consumer Products Ltd., and HDFC Bank Ltd. emerged as the top gainers for the day. On the other hand, Tata Steel Ltd., Hindalco Industries Ltd., and Oil & Natural Gas Corp. were the worst performers of the Nifty 50.

The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex extended losses for the second day as anxiety about the future of global trade system prevails due to US President Donald Trump's aggressive tariff policies. During the session, the Nifty 50 declined 1.62% to the day's low of 22,874.40, and the Sensex fell 1.325% to the day's low of 75,286.29.
The NSE Nifty 50 ended 345.65 points, or 1.49% lower at 22,904.45 and the BSE Sensex closed 930.67 points, or 1.22% down at 75,364.69.
Bajaj Finance stock jumped 1.69% to close at Rs 8,739.90 per share, while Tata Consumer Products ended 1.59% up at Rs 1,088 apiece. HDFC Bank's shares surged 1.22% to Rs 1,816.80 at market close. Nestle India Ltd. and Apollo Hospitals Ltd. were also among the top gainers.
Tata Steel's shares closed 8.43% lower at Rs 140.67 apiece. Hindalco Industries' stock ended 8.07% down at Rs 600 per share. ONGC, Tata Motors Ltd. and Cipla were also among the worst performers for the day.
Tata Motors' shares fell to one-month low after CLSA downgraded the auto giant from 'high conviction outperform' to 'outperform', slashing its target price from Rs 930 to Rs 765. The revision reflects concerns over Jaguar Land Rover's performance in financial year 2026, particularly in the US market, due to rising import tariffs.
Cipla and other pharmaceutical companies fell after US President Donald Trump said that there will be tariffs on the segment in the future.
