At its annual meet, HDFC Bank Ltd. discussed key benefits of its impending merger with Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. The bank also reflected on future key expansion enablers in its businesses, laying thrust on operations in various verticals (corporate, commercial and rural banking and retail).
New digital initiatives and product launches were other aspects that the bank touched upon.
Among private banks, HDFC Bank has been a front runner in securing the highest incremental market shares in current account and savings account deposits.
The bank has a reasonably comfortable balance sheet, considering it has a high core equity capital of 16.7% and provision cover of 72.7%.
Management expects the cost-income ratio of the merged entity to fall to 30% over the long term .
