Drishyam 3 has officially arrived in cinemas worldwide, bringing back Georgekutty for the final chapter of one of India's most iconic thriller franchises.
Directed by Jeethu Joseph and headlined by Mohanlal, the film released on May 21, 2026, in Malayalam along with dubbed Telugu, Tamil and Kannada versions. The suspense thriller has been certified U/A 13+ by the CBFC ahead of release.
Recap Of Drishyam And Drishyam 2
Released in 2013, Drishyam followed Georgekutty, a cable TV operator in a quiet Kerala village whose life changes after his daughter Anju accidentally kills Varun, the son of senior police officer Geetha Prabhakar, during a blackmail confrontation.
To protect his family, Georgekutty carefully creates fake timelines, collects false evidence and secretly hides Varun's body beneath a police station under construction. Despite intense investigations and police pressure, the family escapes legal punishment.
The film became a historic success, reportedly collecting nearly Rs 62 crore worldwide and emerging as the first Malayalam movie to cross the Rs 50 crore mark globally.

The 2021 sequel, Drishyam 2, explored the emotional aftermath of the same crime. The police reopened the case after fresh evidence surfaced and eventually recovered skeletal remains from beneath the police station.
However, Georgekutty once again stayed ahead of the investigation after secretly replacing the remains with another skeleton long before the discovery.
Shot during the COVID-19 pandemic under strict restrictions, Drishyam 2 skipped theatres due to cinema closures and premiered directly on Amazon Prime Video, later becoming hugely popular through streaming.
What About Drishyam 3 Plot?
The third instalment revisits the same crime from a more emotional and psychological angle, as Georgekutty's carefully hidden past threatens to resurface and put his family in danger once again.
Cast And Franchise Legacy
The film also stars Meena as Rani, Ansiba Hassan as Anju, Esther Anil as Anu, Asha Sharath as Geetha Prabhakar, Siddique as Prabhakar and Murali Gopy in a major role. Music has been composed by Anil Johnson.
Over the years, Drishyam evolved into one of cinema's most adapted thrillers with remakes in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Chinese, Indonesian and Sinhalese languages.
Real Incident Inspired The Story
Ahead of Drishyam 3, director Jeethu Joseph revealed that the franchise was inspired by a real-life dispute between two families involving a police case. He said the story fascinated him because “both sides were right and wrong in different ways,” though audiences eventually ended up strongly supporting Georgekutty over Geetha Prabhakar.
With Georgekutty's secrets returning to haunt him one final time, Drishyam 3 promises another tense battle between truth, family and survival.
