Quick commerce platform Zepto on Tuesday announced a set of new in-app features, including the launch of a ‘Pay Later' facility and real-time images of fresh produce, as the company shifts its focus from delivery speed to what it described as "behaviour-led commerce."
According to a report by PTI, the company said the quick commerce sector is now moving beyond the "race to the fastest 10 minutes" and is instead focusing on making everyday shopping easier and more efficient for users.
What Is The ‘Pay Later' Feature?
The newly introduced ‘Pay Later' option allows users to complete purchases with a 15-day, interest-free repayment cycle. This feature is built directly into the Zepto app and is designed mainly for frequent, low-value orders.

With this system, users can complete transactions with a single tap, without the need for One-Time Passwords (OTPs) or redirects to third-party platforms. As per the product interface shared by the company, users can access instant credit of up to Rs 10,000.
Zepto Co-Founder Kaivalya Vohra announced the feature in a LinkedIn post, stating, “Meet Zepto Pay Later, a BNPL experience built completely inside the Zepto app. Shopping is now going to be smoother than ever. It's already live for a small percentage, and we plan to scale this up to the entire user base very soon.”
What Is ‘Real Lens'?
Alongside the payment feature, Zepto has introduced ‘Real Lens', a tool that provides users with daily-updated, timestamped images of fresh produce from their nearest store.
This allows customers to switch between standard catalogue images and actual photos of the items available at nearby locations. The company expects this feature to help address the online "trust gap" and lead to better customer satisfaction, including higher conversion rates and fewer returns or complaints.
What Is ‘Add After Checkout'?
The platform has also launched an ‘Add After Checkout' feature.
This option enables users to add items they may have forgotten to an existing order within a limited time window.

The company said this can be done without placing a separate order, and the original delivery timeline will remain unchanged.
With these updates, Zepto indicated a broader change in its strategy.
The company said it is focusing more on improving user experience and reducing friction in daily shopping, rather than competing only on delivery speed.
