The Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik on Monday announced the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). 

Addressing the media here, Patnaik revealed that 97.37 lakh names of voters were deleted under various categories. The state now has 5.67 crore voters, she added. 

The updated list includes changes made after deletions, additions and corrections during the revision period.

Before the SIR exercise, the state's electorate stood at 6.41 crore. Now, 7.40 lakh people in the 18-19 age bracket have been included in the electoral roll and 97.37 lakh names of voters were deleted under various categories, Archana said. 

She also informed that continuous updation of the electoral roll will begin immediately.

Archana also highlighted that, out of 56,707,380 total voters, 27,738,925 are males, 28,960,838 are females, and 7,617 are third gender voters, with 423,172 accepted forms after Special Intensive Revision.

She added that soft copies of the updated voter lists will be uploaded for public verification. Voters who need to make changes or apply for inclusion can submit Form 6.

During the revision process, 70 lakh voters who had mapping-related issues were re-included in the rolls. In addition, 1.58 crore voters who were identified as having logical discrepancies submitted the required documents, after which their names were restored.

District-wise data showed that Sholinganallur constituency in Chengalpattu district recorded the highest number of voters at 5,36,991. On the other hand, the Harbour constituency in Chennai has the lowest voter strength in the state, with 1,16,896 registered voters.

An a district-wise basis, Chennai, Coimbatore, Salem, Thiruvallur and Chengalpattu districts have the highest voter populations in the state.

How to verify you names in final voter list? 

Voters can verify whether their names are included in the final roll by visiting the official website of the Tamil Nadu Election Department.

 The final list is also available through Booth Level Officers and on the website of the Election Commission of India.
