Air India Express has announced that it will resume select flight operations to and from Muscat starting March 3, becoming the first Indian airline to make such an announcement following recent regional disruptions.

The airline will restart scheduled services connecting Muscat with New Delhi, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mangaluru, Mumbai and Tiruchirappalli. Air India Express is currently the sole Indian carrier operating on the Muscat sector, making the resumption significant for passengers travelling between Oman and India.

According to an airline spokesperson, “Air India Express will resume flight operations to and from Muscat starting tomorrow, March 3, with scheduled services to Delhi, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mangaluru, Mumbai and Tiruchirappalli.”

This comes after Etihad Airways has scheduled 15 special flights from Abu Dhabi to assist stranded passengers due to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, with four of those services earmarked for Indian cities. Eight passenger flights have been able to take off from Abu Dhabi with more scheduled to take off soon.

Emirates will begin operating a limited number of flights from the evening of March 2.

The first flight from Muscat is scheduled to operate to Tiruchirappalli, departing at 10:25 hours local time.

Passengers have been advised to check the latest flight status on the airline's official website and ensure their contact details are updated to receive real-time notifications regarding schedule changes. For change and cancellation fee waivers, travellers can manage their bookings online through the airline's ‘Manage Booking' section.

The airline has also reminded customers that they can connect with “Tia”, its 24/7 AI-powered digital assistant, available on its website and via WhatsApp at +91 63600 12345 for assistance.

Meanwhile, Air India Express confirmed that flight operations to Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE will remain suspended until 23:59 hrs IST on March 3, 2026. The carrier expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers due to the disruptions and thanked them for their understanding and cooperation.

The resumption of Muscat services is expected to provide relief to stranded passengers and restore connectivity on a key Gulf route widely used by Indian expatriates and business travellers.
