Banks in various states and Union Territories will see closures across three days, from March 2-4, due to Holi. Check the bank holidays across various states and UTs depending on region-specific Holi celebrations. 

Holi 2026 Bank Holidays:

  • March 2: Holika Dahan (Uttar Pradesh)
  • March 3: Holi (Second Day)/Dol Jatra/Dhulandi/Holika Dahan (Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Assam, Telangana, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Goa, Bihar, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh)
  • March 4: Holi/Dhuleti (Tripura, Gujarat, Mizoram, Odisha, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh)

Customers are advised to check the regional holiday calendar and plan their bank visits in advance, as branch services will remain closed on the above-mentioned days. However, essential banking services will continue through ATMs, UPI and internet banking, allowing customers to carry out transactions without disruption.

Other Bank Holidays In March 2026

As per the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) notified holiday schedule, banks across various states and Union Territories will observe additional closures later in March, apart from those in the first week. The list of occasions includes Ram Navami, Id-Ul-Fitr, Chapchar Kut, Shab-I-Qadr and Mahavir Jayanti, with holidays applicable in select states based on local observance.

  • March 13: Chapchar Kut (Mizoram)
  • March 17: Shab-I-Qadr (Jammu)
  • March 19: Gudhi Padwa/Ugadi Festival/Telugu New Year's Day/Sajibu Nongmapanba (Cheiraoba)/1st Navratra (Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Manipur, Jammu and Kashmir, Goa, Andhra Pradesh)
  • March 20: Eid-Ul-Fitr (Ramzan)/Jumat-ul-Vida (Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh)
  • March 21: Ramzan-Id (Id-Ul-Fitr) (Shawal-1)/Khutub-E-Ramzan/Sarhul (All India except Kerala, Himachal Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh)
  • March 26: Shree Ram Navami (Gujarat, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh)
  • March 27: Shree Ram Navami (Chaite Dasain) (Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim, Telangana, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh)
  • March 31: Mahavir Janmakalyanak/Mahavir Jayanti (Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh)

In addition to these holidays, banks will also remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, along with all Sundays, in line with the standard banking holiday schedule.

  • March 14: Second Saturday
  • March 28: Fourth Saturday
  • March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 (Sundays)

The central bank publishes the annual list of bank holidays at the start of each calendar year. Banks observe closures on national holidays and state-specific festivals, in addition to the second and fourth Saturdays of every month and all Sundays.
