Counting trends in the Kanniyakumari Assembly constituency indicate a strong lead for DMK candidate Mahesh R., who is currently ahead of AIADMK's Thalavai Sundaram N. by over 19,000 votes. Among other candidates, Madhavan S.R. of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam is trailing with over 12,000 votes, while Maria Jennifer of Naam Tamilar Katchi has secured more than 2,500 votes so far. Independent candidate Rajan S., along with Reagon Anto J. of Tamizhaga Vaazhvurimai Katchi, Sivalingam C. of Naam Indiar Party, and independent candidate Ramakrishnan C., are also in the fray but remain significantly behind in the current count.
Alliance Trends Across Tamil Nadu
The DMK-led alliance (DMK+) is currently leading in 50 constituencies. Meanwhile, the AIADMK-led alliance (AIADMK+) has taken an early edge, leading in 72 seats. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is ahead in 112 constituencies, emerging as a notable player in the early rounds of counting.
In the Karaikal region, BJP's TK SM Meenatchisundaram has pulled ahead of his rivals, while senior leader A. Namassivayam has established a firm lead as a key figure in the NDA cabinet, reported NDTV.
