(Bloomberg) -- Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said he'll propose a constitutional amendment after 98 percent of voters rejected European Union refugee quotas in a referendum on Sunday.
Playing down the fact that the referendum was non-binding because turnout fell short of the 50 percent threshold, Orban said the result gave him a “strong enough weapon” to lobby the EU to change its refugee policy.
“Brussels or Budapest, that was the question and we decided that the right to decide with whom we want to live resides exclusively in Budapest,” Orban said in a speech in Budapest after voting ended.
