Former Indian cricketer and actor Yograj Singh has been booked in Chandigarh over alleged derogatory remarks against women featured in a viral clip from a web series.

According to reports, an FIR has been registered at Sector 36 Police Station under Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 62A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, following outrage over the video circulating on social media platforms.

The controversial clip is reportedly from an episode of the Hindi web series Lukkhe, where Yograj Singh's character is seen inside a police station making alleged remarks about women. The video drew widespread criticism online, prompting demands for legal action.

Police officials said the matter is currently under investigation.

Yograj Singh, father of former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, has previously courted controversy over his public statements.

Earlier this year, he faced backlash for comments made during an interview while discussing retirement decisions in cricket and the role of women in players' lives.

Speaking to InsideSport in March, Yograj had remarked that wives often influence players to retire early and said women should not interfere in the “legendary journey” of a sportsperson.

During the same interaction, he also commented on veteran Indian cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma amid debates over age and retirement in cricket.

He criticised discussions around retirement, asserting that players should continue as long as they are performing at the highest level.

Kohli and Rohit have retired from T20 Internationals and Test cricket, and currently feature only in the ODI format for India.
