The GREAT Scholarships programme for the academic year 2026–27 is now open, offering financial support to Indian students planning to pursue postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom.
Under this initiative, selected candidates will receive 10,000 euros, which is around Rs 10,88,460, towards their tuition fees for a wide range of one-year taught postgraduate courses across several UK universities. In addition to financial assistance, students will also have the opportunity to become part of the GREAT Scholars community.
Which Universities Are Offering Scholarships ?
For the academic year 2026-27, multiple UK institutions are participating in the programme.
These include Anglia Ruskin University, Norwich University of the Arts, Queen's University Belfast, Royal College of Art, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Royal Northern College of Music, University of Bristol, Trinity Laban, University of Dundee, University of Kent, University of Reading, University of Surrey, and the University of the West of England.

Each university offers scholarships for specific courses, and applicants are required to check individual university pages to understand course availability and application procedures.
Eligibility Criteria
According to the official website of the British Council, students applying for the scholarship must be passport holders and permanent residents of India.

They are required to have an undergraduate degree, demonstrate motivation, and show interest in their chosen field of study.
Applicants must also meet the English language requirements set by the respective UK higher education institutions.
Selected candidates are expected to participate in networking events organised for GREAT scholars, where experiences of studying in the UK are discussed.
Scholars are also expected to stay connected with the British Council and their respective universities, acting as ambassadors for the programme. Even after completing their studies, they may be required to occasionally share their experiences with prospective students.

They must then apply individually through each university's scholarship application process. The deadline for applications is not uniform and varies depending on the institution. Candidates are advised to check the specific deadlines on the respective university websites.
