Draghi Jokes ECB Isn't in a Rush to Be Presented With New Boss

(Bloomberg) -- The euro-area is beset by uncertainties -- including who will succeed Mario Draghi as European Central Bank president.

The Italian's eight-year term at the Frankfurt based institution is soon coming to an end, and speculation about who will follow him is running wide. Asked whether euro-area governments should expedite picking a successor -- a process expected to take place after parliamentary elections in May -- Draghi admitted he might be a bit prejudiced when it comes to that topic.

“I'm a little biased -- I don't have that sense -- maybe people like me,” he said with a smile. “I don't have that sense from the Governing Council. People know that the mandate is about to end, but we have no say, it's decided by other people.”
