Air India on Thursday rejected a claim that it flew over restricted airspace in the Middle East. The airline said that these reports on social media are false.
Several airspaces in the region have been close since the war between US-Israel and Iran.
“Fake News Alert: ‘Air India flew over restricted airspace in the Middle East despite tensions in the region.' These claims circulating on social media are incorrect and do not reflect our actual flight operations or safety protocols. Actual Information - Air India does not operate flights over any restricted airspace,” said the airline in a post on X.

The company further informed that its flight paths are planned using real‑time intelligence, global advisories, and continuous monitoring to ensure every journey remains safe, compliant, and reliable.
"These operational decisions underline Air India's firm commitment to prioritising the safety and security of passengers and crew above everything else," the airline added.

The statement came days after rumours circulated on social media that it flew the Delhi-bound flight AI2030 via the restricted Middle East route.
The airline also shared actual route image from Flight radar 24.
Indian Airlines Operate Special Flights
Meanwhile, amid ongoing conflict, Indian airlines including IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet among others have also announced rescheduling or cancellation of dozens of flights this week.
Air India has announced that most of its flights to the region will remain suspended until March 5. "After carefully assessing the situation, the airline plans to resume some scheduled services to and from Jeddah starting March 5."
These flights include AI2255/2256 (Delhi-Jeddah-Delhi), AI2251/2252 (Mumbai-Jeddah-Mumbai) and AI2245/2246 (Mumbai-Jeddah-Mumbai). Air India emphasised that passenger safety remains its top priority and it is continuously monitoring conditions in the region.

On Wednesday, IndiGo issued a travel advisory stating that its flights to Athens, Muscat, Jeddah, Madinah and select UAE repatriation services have resumed. The airline also noted that it plans to increase UAE repatriation flight frequency and will update the passengers accordingly.
“Customers are advised to continue monitoring their flight status and stay attentive to updates shared through their registered contact details. If you are scheduled to travel, we kindly request that you wait for confirmation from us before proceeding to the airport,” it said on X
