Delhi police on Wednesday busted a Pakistan-linked arms racket by arresting three persons with firearms and 200 live cartridges allegedly smuggled through Nepal and Bangladesh, according to a report in The Times of India.
Several members of a Pakistan-linked espionage racket have been arrested over the past few weeks, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 21, an official said.
The arrested accused include Sameer alias Shooter of Shamli district and Shivraj from Shahjahanpur, who were living in Delhi. “A total of 21 people have been arrested so far, including six minors. Ghaziabad police have filed a chargesheet in the district court," deputy commissioner of police (Trans Hindon) Dhawal Jasiwal said, as per PTI.
According to police officials cited by TOI, weapons were smuggled through the Indo-Nepal border from Pakistan into Delhi's Walled City, to be distributed among domestic criminals. The network effectively served as a bridge between domestic organised crime groups and international suppliers.
Earlier, Meera Thakur (28) and Naushad Ali (20) were arrested for allegedly conducting a recce of security and police installations and railway stations in Delhi and other states and leaking this data to Pakistan.
"The gang involved in espionage was sending secret information to a man named Sardar alias Zoravar Singh, who was operating the spying racket from Pakistan," PTI quoted additional commissioner of police Raj Karan Nayyar as saying.
In 2025, Meera was arrested on charges of arms smuggling by the Delhi Police. She had claimed she was an informer for the Mumbai Police, as per reports. Naushad Ali reportedly operated and connected with other new members through social media, and he was directly in touch with a Pakistan counterpart.
"He confessed that he had conducted a recce of security and police installations and railway stations in Delhi and other states and was forwarding photos and videos," the officer said.
