The average ultra-wealthy person spends $1.1 million or Rs 6.76 crore every year on luxury goods and services, ranging from travel to food and wine.

"We estimate that these individuals are responsible for almost 19 per cent of the entire luxury market - higher than the 17 per cent share of the market they accounted for last year. Their increasing importance in this sector is partly due to the fast growth in UHNW (ultra-high net worth) population and wealth, which saw their average net worth and liquidity rise," the survey said.

The number of ultra-rich individuals or people who have more than $30 million (around Rs 185 crore) in net assets went up by 6 per cent to a record 211,275 in 2014, according to the report. This means there are 12,040 new ultra-rich individuals across the globe. The wealth of the super-rich increased 7 per cent to $30 trillion (around Rs 1845 lakh crore) in 2014. The average male age is 59 years, while that of the female is 57.

The average ultra-rich individual owns 2.7 properties and 30 per cent of them at least have one residence outside their primary country.

The super-rich also believe in giving away their wealth; according to Wealth-X estimates more than half of the world's ultra-high net worth population are major donors, having donated publicly at least $1 million (around Rs 6 crore) over the course of their lifetime.
