U.K. Consumers’ Mood Has Lifted, at Least for Now: Chart

(Bloomberg) -- Consumer confidence in the U.K. is back at its pre-Brexit level, according to GfK, having taken a a brief kicking after the referendum. Nevertheless, with uncertainty about how Britain will leave the European Union, inflation on the rise and wages relatively subdued, GfK's Joe Staton is questioning whether this is a false dawn. “Will confidence continue to rise or are we seeing misplaced consumer optimism in which any kind of bad news -- economic or political -- sends the index reeling once again?” he says.
