Finance Ministry Asks Ministries to Seek Nod for Additional Budget by June 9

The Finance Ministry has asked other ministries and departments to seek its approval for additional expenditure for the current fiscal year by Monday, June 9.

New Delhi:

The Finance Ministry has asked other ministries and departments to seek its approval for additional expenditure for the current fiscal year by Monday, June 9.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is likely to present the regular budget for fiscal year 2014-15 early next month.

"Allocations projected in the Interim Budget 2014-15, are generally not altered," the Finance Ministry said in a communication.

However, cases of schemes and decisions which have the effect of raising expenditure commitments have to be sent to the Budget Division in the Finance Ministry for examination.

"In case the additionality is agreed to by this Ministry, then revised Statements of Budget Estimates (SBEs)  would need to be forwarded to the Budget Division," the ministry said.

It further said necessary approvals may be obtained on or before June 9 so that the revised SBEs can be forwarded to the Budget Division by June 19.

"It is clarified that additionality will only be for committed liabilities," the Finance Ministry added.

The last government had presented an interim budget before the general elections.
