Indian banks' loans rose 9.5 per cent in the two weeks to March 20 from a year earlier, while deposits grew 11.4 per cent, a weekly statistical supplement released by the Reserve Bank of India on Friday showed.
Outstanding loans rose Rs 40,427 crore ($6.51 billion) to 656,500 crore in the two weeks to March 20. Non-food credit rose Rs 44,007 crore to Rs 647,000 crore, while food credit fell Rs 358 crore to Rs 94,420 crore.
Bank deposits rose Rs 31,609 crore to Rs 858,600 crore in the two weeks to March 20.
