Wholesale Inflation Eases To 1.89% For November

India's wholesale inflation eased in November, led by lower food prices.

The Wholesale Price Index rose 1.89% in November, compared to 2.36% in October from a year ago, showed data released by Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Monday.

On a sequential basis, the index rose 0.6%, compared to a decline of 0.5% from August.

WPI Inflation Internals (Year-On-Year)

  • Inflation in manufactured products—the largest component of the index—rose at 2% in November, compared to 1.5% in October.

  • Primary-article inflation rose 5.5% in November, compared to 8.1% in the previous month.

  • Inflation in food articles—a sub-component of primary articles— rose by 8.6% in November, compared to a rise of 13.5% in October.

  • Vegetable inflation rose by 28.6% in November, after rising 63% in the previous month.

  • Inflation in fuel and power fell by 5.8% in November, the same as a month ago.
