Bilateral trade agreements, or BTAs, involve intense discussions and are not a subject of public debate before the media, said Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. His remarks came on being asked about a US federal court blocking the sweeping trade tariffs announced by President Donald Trump last month.

"India doesn't interfere or comment on domestic issues of other countries," Goyal said, while responding to reporters' queries at the CII Business Summit in New Delhi.

The minister recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Trump, during their bilateral meeting earlier this year, resolved for a mutually beneficial multi-sector BTA.

Goyal also added that India shares good economic relations with developed nations. Leveraging the same, the government is working on new opportunities for farmers, engineers, and startups through trade agreements, he further said.
