New Covid-19 infections in India fell to around 25,000 for the first time in nearly three months, even as a projected third wave threatens to disrupt economic activity.
Authorities reported 25,166 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 3.2 crore in the world’s second-most populous country, according to the Health Ministry’s update on Aug. 17, 2021.
Daily recoveries continued to eclipse new infections, taking the country's active caseload down to 3.69 lakh.
