Total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India crossed 74,000 with over 2,400 dead, at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned citizens that they will have to learn to live with the virus.
India added 3,525 new Covid-19 cases over 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry’s 8:00 a.m. update on May 13. The total number of cases in India stands at 74,281. This includes 24,386 people who’ve recovered and 2,415 deaths. The ministry said that 70 percent of all deaths so far have been because of comorbidities.
Authorities have now reported more than 3,000 fresh cases every day for a week. However, India also see a spike in recoveries today, hovering close to the 2,000 mark.
In an address to the nation yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the government will announce a large economic package and bold reforms to make India self-reliant and emerge from the setback of Covid-19 disruption.
He also announced lockdown 4.0 -- details of which will be released before May 18, he said. “The new coronavirus will be a part of our lives for a while, but we cannot let it consume us,” he said, adding: “We will wear masks, maintain social distancing.”

Brazil recorded another record day in daily deaths. Over 1,000 Twitter accounts linked to an alleged Chinese government-backed propaganda campaign are sowing disinformation about the virus.
Cases topped 4.2 million globally and more than 291,000 have died.

PM-Cares Fund Trust Allocates Rs 3,100 Crore In Fight Against Covid-19
The PM CARES Trust Fund today allocated Rs 3,100 crore for the fight against Covid-19.
Out of Rs 3,100 crore, a sum of approximately Rs 2,000 crore will be earmarked for the purchase of ventilators, Rs. 1,000 crore will be used for the care of migrant labourers and Rs 100 crore will be given to support vaccine development, the Prime Minister's Office said in a press release.
The trust, which manages all contributions to the fund, is headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself and has other ex-officio members including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Cases Cross 1,000 In Dharavi
Asia’s largest slum Dharavi saw confirmed coronavirus cases cross 1,000 today, officials said.
Sixty six new cases were recorded today taking the total to 1,028. There have been 40 deaths in the area so far.

Anil Dekhmukh Requests 20 Companies Of CAPF
The state of Maharashtra today placed a request for 20 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces to provide some relief to the state police forces.
State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh informed of the request through a video on Twitter.
