Zepto Cofounder Takes Dig At Work-Life Balance Amid Toxic Work Culture Allegations
A social media post had claimed unreasonable working hours, and unprofessional work culture at Zepto.

Zepto’s Co-founder Aadit Palicha has taken a dig at the need for work-life balance, amid claims about toxic work culture at the quick commerce platform making rounds on social media.
“I have nothing against work-life balance. In fact, I recommend it to all our competitors,” Palicha said in an X post. He added that he is quoting from an interview of Daksh Gupta.
Gupta is the 23-year-old founder of a San Francisco-based tech startup Greptile. He had recently received backlash on X, for saying that his company does not offer work-life balance.
This comes after an anonymous Reddit post complaining about Zepto’s toxic work culture made rounds on social media. The post had complaints about unreasonable working hours, and unprofessional work culture. It also alleged that there was high attrition at the company, with at least 10 people leaving every week, and there are dark patterns on the app to extract money from customers in multiple ways.
NDTV Profit's reached out to Zepto for comments, but the request did not receive a response at the time of publishing this report.
Palicha has previously spoken about how Zepto’s team works for 80 to 100 hours a week to meet the demands of the business. He stressed that the drive and passion to create something worthwhile are more important than the money.
“Working 80-100 hours a week, we could have probably worked half of that with a lot less stress...At a certain point, money becomes inconsequential. We love what we're building, we work like crazy, and we're genuinely so excited about what we're creating,” Palicha had said at the NDTV World Summit in October.
Work-life balance has become a highly debated topic in corporate India. Infosys Ltd. Founder N.R Narayana Murthy’s stance on having a 70-hour work week started the debate earlier this year. While some appreciated the stance, some put forward heavy criticism. Murthy, however, has reiterated his stance saying he does not believe in work-life balance.
