DGCA Seeks Report On Vistara Flight Cancellations, Delays

Directorate General of Civil Aviation has asked Vistara to submit daily information and details on the flights that are being cancelled and delayed

"The airline has also been asked to ensure that the relevant provisions of CAR Section-3, Series M, Part-IV on 'Facilities to be provided to passengers by airlines due to denied boarding, cancellation of flights and delays in flights' are complied with like advance information, an option of refund, compensation (if applicable) etc. to the passengers," the regulator said in a statement.

DGCA officials are monitoring the situation to ensure minimal passenger inconvenience.

Vistara Pilots' 'Sick Leaves' Affect 200 Flights

Vistara had to cancel 200 flights after its pilots did not turn up. They were protesting a new salary system ahead of the airline's merger with Air India.

Meanwhile, competitors IndiGo parent InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. and SpiceJet saw their shares rise as Vistara had to cancel or delay more flights on Tuesday.

Aviation Minister Scindia Seeks Report From Vistara

  • Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has asked for details on what are the reasons for flight cancellations and delays by Vistara.

  • The minister has also asked how Vistara is addressing the issue.

  • Vistara has submitted a preliminary report to the Scindia's office and will submit a detailed report by tomorrow.

Vistara Cancels Flights To Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru

Vistara flight operations were hit on Monday, with disruptions extending into Tuesday, as pilots called in sick en masse in protest over a new salary system ahead of merger with Air India.

Vistara cancelled 15 flights from Mumbai, 12 from Delhi and 11 from Bengaluru for today, people with knowledge of the matter told NDTV Profit on the condition of anonymity.

Vistara Offers Alternate Options, Refunds Against Cancelled Flights

Vistara will offer alternate flight options or refunds to customers affected due to flight cancellations, the Tata-owned airline said in a statement on Monday.

The full-service carrier cited "various reasons, including crew unavailability" as the reason for the impact on operations.

Vistara said it will deploy B787-9 Dreamliner and A321neo on select domestic routes to combine flights or accommodate more customers wherever possible.
