TT Jagannathan, chairman emeritus of kitchen appliance maker TTK Prestige Ltd., passed away late Thursday.

Often referred to as 'The Kitchen Mogul', Jagannathan has been on the board of TTK Prestige for the past 50 years and was instrumental in turning around the TTK Group and making it debt free, according to a profile on the company website.

He was a gold medalist from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Chennai and held a PhD in operations research from Cornell University in the US.

"His sudden and unexpected passing away will be an irreparable loss to the company and all the Directors and employees of the company convey deep sorrow and condolences to his family," TTK Prestige said in a statement.

Jagannathan authored the book 'Disrupt and Conquer - How TTK Prestige became a Billion Dollar Company', which chronicled about the company's journey, many milestones and how it had fought bankruptcy to become a successful and household brand.

"If you don't know how to cook, then you are not in the cooking business," Jagannathan had famously said.

The industrialist revolutionised the pressure cooker industry in India with the 'gasket release system', making Prestige synonymous with safety and reliability in Indian households.

"Jo biwi se kare pyar, woh Prestige se kaise kare inkaar" was one of India's most iconic advertisement lines of the 1990s.

TTK Prestige had announced the death of promoter TT Venkatesh on Sept. 17, 2025.
