South African Rhino Deaths Drop on Record Poacher Arrests: Chart

(Bloomberg) -- South Africa has curbed the killing of rhinos for their horns, which are sold in Asia for as much as $95,000 per kilogram, for a second consecutive year as arrests related to the crime climbed to a record. Rhino killings declined by 13 percent between 2014 and last year and the number of people arrested in relation to the poaching of the pachyderms has doubled since 2013, according to data from the nation's Environmental Affairs Department.
