Bollywood's reigning superstar, Shah Rukh Khan, has made entry into the 2024 Hurun India Rich List with a net worth of Rs 7,300 crore. His influence, both on and off the screen, led his stride into the list, significantly boosted by his investments in the Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knight Riders and his production house, Red Chillies Entertainment.
The Hurun India Rich List for 2024 features other prominent figures from the entertainment industry, including Juhi Chawla and family, Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar, and Amitabh Bachchan, all of whom have also made significant financial strides over the past year.
With 44.1 million followers on Twitter, Shah Rukh Khan is the most-followed individual among the 2024 Hurun India Rich List on Indian social media, outpacing fellow Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan, who has 32.3 million followers.
“Cricket and movies are the heartbeat of India. Shah Rukh Khan's inclusion on the Hurun India Rich List reflects the soaring value of his investments, particularly in Kolkata Knight Riders. This year, Hurun India Rich Listers from the entertainment sector added a remarkable INR 40,500 crores in total, with seven new entrants,” said Anas Rahman Junaid, founder and chief researcher at Hurun India.
The list also pointed out that Mumbai is now Asia's billionaire capital, surpassing Beijing.
The city leads the Hurun India Rich List with 25% of the entries solely from the financial capital, highlighting that it remains the top choice for India's wealthy, followed by New Delhi and Hyderabad. Mumbai saw a net increase of 58 individuals on the list, while New Delhi added 18. Maharashtra and Delhi are the most favoured states, with 470 and 213 entrants respectively in the 2024 Hurun India Rich List.
