A young earner's decision to prioritise his family over expensive gadgets, new clothes and other lifestyle choices has caught the attention of social media users. In a post on X, a user named Misu Vibes (@Amianshu2109) shared how his childhood experiences shaped his approach to money and why he prefers saving over spending.
The user recalled his experience of getting his first job at the age of 22, with a disposable income of Rs 32,000. Even though he started earning young, he said he had never felt the need to buy something simply because he saw others have it.
He continues to live in a paying guest (PG) accommodation with four other people, cooks his own meals and manages with just four or five shirts that he rotates. He also does not pay for any OTT subscriptions and continues to use his three-year-old earphones as long as they work.

“People might think, why am I living such a life even after earning so much? But only I know the reason for this,” he wrote on X.
The young man explained that he had watched his father work for 14 hours a day, yet the family continued to face financial difficulties. He recalled a time when the roof of their home would leak, but there was not enough money to get it repaired.

Those experiences, he said, continue to affect the way he thinks about money. Even today, he thinks carefully before making a purchase.
He also pointed out that many of his friends buy iPhones on monthly instalments, shop for new clothes and go on trips. While he could afford to do some of these things himself, he said he does not feel the need to spend on them.
For him, saving money is not just about meeting his own needs. His bigger goal is to ensure that his father no longer has to work.
"I'll find more peace in knowing that my dad can now sit back and relax, without having to toil day and night for the family, than in indulging in expensive things," he added.
He wants his parents, who have faced several hardships, to enjoy a more comfortable life. "All I want is that, after seeing me succeed, my parents never have to go through the hardships they faced in life again," he said. He added that he could always buy an iPhone at some point in the future, but he could never bring back the years or time his father had spent working hard for the family.
The post received several reactions from users who related to his decision to save money for his family. One user said people who carry the responsibility of running a household often have to give up their own wishes.
Another shared that he follows a similar lifestyle and avoids spending money on things he considers unnecessary. Some users praised the young man's mature thinking, with one saying, "Very nice, you've managed to make yourself so mature just in time." "Everyone's thinking should be of this kind, so that the family remains united and continues to progress," another added.
