In a bid to cushion the fallout, Air India has rolled out some of the steepest fare cuts seen in recent times on long-haul routes.

A comparative analysis done by NDTV Profit of weekend fares (June 21–22) reveals the carrier has significantly undercut rivals on key international routes, with fares 30–70% lower than competitors

Air India has sharply reduced international ticket prices following the June 12th deadly crash of flight AI 171 — a Boeing 787 Dreamliner operating the Ahmedabad to London Gatwick route.

The airline has aggressively slashed fares on several high-traffic international routes, move comes even as flight cancellations and operational disruptions continue across key sectors, including Europe, the UK and the US.

  • Delhi → Paris: Air India tickets are priced at Rs 23,313–24,045, while Air France is charging Rs 69,763–83,261.

  • Delhi → Amsterdam: Air India’s June 22 flight is available for Rs 49,590; KLM’s tickets are priced upwards of Rs 81,000.

  • Delhi → Hong Kong: After cancelling the June 21 flight, Air India is offering tickets at just Rs 11,912 for June 22. Cathay Pacific fares range from Rs 24,890 to over Rs 80,000, while IndiGo charges over Rs 21,000.

  • Delhi → London Heathrow: Air India fares fall between Rs 38,000 and Rs 80,916, still lower than British Airways, which lists tickets as high as Rs 1,00,500.

  • Delhi → New York: Air India’s prices range from Rs 48,254 to Rs 61,494 across the two days, while American Airlines tickets cost Rs 52,805–68,335.

With global regulators watching closely and the Dreamliner under intense scrutiny, Air India is navigating a delicate balance between damage control and commercial recovery — one deep discount at a time.
