Paras Defence and Space Technologies Ltd. anticipates its order book to reach Rs 2,000 crore over the next one year amid ongoing geopolitical tensions and uncertainties.

In an interview with NDTV Profit on Tuesday, Paras Defence Director Amit Mahajan outlined that many opportunities were materialising faster than expected, driven by increased focus on national security. He acknowledged that the rising global uncertainties have heightened focus on military preparedness.

"Whether all the excitement we're seeing in the stock market around the defence sector is translating on the ground, the answer is: big time. We're seeing a significant swell in opportunities," Mahajan said.

"Projects that earlier seemed distant are now appearing much closer. The buzz is not just in the markets but very much at the procurement level," he said.

Given the current Rs 900-crore order book and an expected Rs 2,000-crore pipeline in the next one year, Mahajan was optimistic about revenue realisation scaling up meaningfully.

"The projections we've shared of over 40% are, in our view, realistic. While we're fully geared to handle anything beyond that, we prefer to stay grounded rather than overly optimistic," he said. "Opportunities will certainly come our way, but the timing often depends on external events and geopolitical developments."

In FY25, the company's revenue from operations stood at Rs 333.9 crore compared to Rs 232.4 crore in FY24.

When asked about the order execution timeline, Mahajan explained that the delivery timeline for orders at Paras Defence typically ranges from six to 18 months. "Our orders span a wide delivery cycle; some of our defence electronics orders are completed within six months, while more complex systems, like laser technologies, can take up to 18 months," he noted.

On the future of the defence sector, Mahajan also highlighted how cutting-edge technologies like anti-drone systems and advanced UAVs are poised to shape the next phase of military capability. "But the real game changer is the lack of effective anti-UAV systems. As much as UAVs are the future of warfare, counter-UAV systems are just as critical," he added.

To capitalise on these emerging opportunities, the defence technology solutions provider is focusing more on research and development.

"We're proud to say that Paras will be the only Indian company manufacturing drone cameras, which is a breakthrough product in itself," Mahajan added.
