(Bloomberg) -- Libyan lawmakers approved the government of parliament-appointed Prime Minister Fathi Bashagha on Tuesday, a step likely to sow further discord in an OPEC nation struggling to find political stability.
Bashagha's administration of 29 ministers and six state ministers won the backing of 92 lawmakers out of the 100 who took part in a confidence vote. The formation didn't include an oil ministry.
Libya's Dbeibah Vows to Present Vote Plan After Rival PM Emerges
Fears are growing that the North African nation will again split between dueling administrations, as it did in 2014.
Lawmakers had picked Bashagha, a former interior minister, as premier, arguing that the tenure of incumbent Abdul Hamid Dbeibah expired after the country failed to hold presidential elections in December, as planned.
Dbeibah has vowed to cede power only after elections are held.
