Ten Teams Spend Rs 167 Crore For 80 Players
The IPL auction saw teams shelling out Rs 167 crore to onboard 80 players for the upcoming edition of the coveted T20 tournament. Of the players bought on Friday, 29 are foreigners.
Of the players that went on the block, 71 remained unsold. From the 405 players shortlisted for the auction, 254 were not put up for bidding.
Together with the Rs 743.5 crore spent by teams as retention cost, the overall expenditure on players this year stands at Rs 910.50 crore.
The mini auction in Kochi made a new record for the highest paycheck in IPL yet, with Punjab Kings paying Rs 18.50 crore for English all-rounder Sam Curran. Cameron Green (Rs 17.50 crore), Ben Stokes (Rs 16.25 crore), Nicholas Pooran (Rs 16 crore) and Harry Brook (Rs 13.25 crore) follow Curran on the list of top buys.
A total of seven players went unsold in the highest reserve price category of Rs 2 crore, including Jimmy Neesham, Tom Banton, Travis Head, Chris Jordan and others.
Among Indian players batsman Mayank Agarwal got the biggest price tag of Rs 8.25 crore. The other two Indians on the list of top 10 purchases are uncapped bowlers Shivam Mavi and Mukesh Kumar, with winning bids of Rs 6 crore and Rs 5.5 crore, respectively.
KKR Picks Shakib Al Hassan
The Bangladesh legend returned to Kolkata Knight Riders as the team placed the winning bid of Rs 1.5 crore. Hassan was part of the winning KKR team in both 2012 and 2014.

Joe Root Sold To Rajasthan Royals
The former English captain was picked by the Rajasthan side in the last leg of bidding for Rs 1 crore.

Rilee Rossouw Sold To Delhi Capitals For Rs 4.6 Crore
The South African batsman went unsold earlier today, to the surprise of many. The 33-year-old left-handed batter has been in terrific form in T20 tournaments this year.
Adam Zampa, who was also unsold earlier, was picked by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.50 crore. Akeal Hosein goes to SRH for Rs 1 crore.

Teams Filling Up Slots Fast
Rajasthan Royals took Kunal Rathore, while all-rounder Sonu Yadav went to RCB. Pacer Kulwant Khejroliya was picked by KKR, and CSK got Ajay Mandal. Mohit Rathee was sold to Punjab Kings, all-rounder Nehal Wadhera went to MI, and Bhagath Varma was picked by CSK. Shivam Singh was the last name to be picked in the first leg of accelerated auction, and was sold to Punjab Kings.
All these players attracted bids of Rs 20 lakh.
KKR Takes Namibia's David Wiese for Rs 1 Crore
SRH buys Nitish Kumar Reddy for Rs 20 lakh. Fast bowler Avinash Singh was sold to RCB after its bidding war with KKR.
