The Indian rupee depreciated against the U.S. dollar on Thursday after the U.S. Federal Reserve hiked rates by 75 basis points for the fourth straight meeting.
The local currency opened 0.12% lower at 82.88 against the greenback, losing as much as 10 paise compared to Wednesday's close.
During the day, it fell as much as 0.17% to 82.92. The rupee closed 0.14% lower at 82.89.
The Indian currency had hit a record low of 83.29 on Oct. 20.
