German Grocery Discounters in U.K. Are Down But Not Out: Chart

(Bloomberg) -- The U.K. arms of Aldi and Lidl remain dangerous to Britain's four biggest supermarket chains, which have been slugging out a price war for the past two and half years, according to Bloomberg Gadfly's Andrea Felsted. While U.K. sales growth last year slowed at the British divisions of both Germany-based discounters, they are still opening new outlets, especially in the southeast. That puts them on a collision course with Tesco Plc and J Sainsbury Plc.
